Next,sand the edges with a hand held rotary sander, with a final sand using orbital sander to leave a smooth, scratch free finish. We start by giving the area to be sanded a thorough clean and punching nails deeper into the boards where required. We use water-based floor coatings that are non-toxic and odourless. American Black Walnut performs well with both machine and hand tools, and takes a very high polish. It is an excellent timber for carving and turning and is suitable for steam bending. If the area to be sanded does not include vital rooms such as bedrooms and kitchens, then it may be possible for you to stay in the house. However it is important that the rooms being sanded are completely free of traffic, so you won’t be able to access them during the sanding process.
